Michael Anderson, CSP

Mike is the President of Snow and Ice Pros Inc. a snow & ice management only company based in Highland, Indiana. He was the first person in Indiana to receive the Certified Snow Professional designation. With SIMA, he has been a member of the Education Committee, Membership Committee, and serves as a SIMA Buddy & mentor. He has taught classes on marketing and parking lot measurements. Mike earned his B.S. in accounting from Marquette University.

Jason Case, CSP
Vice Chair

Jason Case, CSP is the President of Case Snow Management, Inc., located in North Attleboro, MA. He earned his Certified Snow Professional (CSP) designation in 2008 and has served as the Co-Chair of the Symposium Planning Committee. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from St. Anselms College and is a Certified Project Manager from Northeastern University.


Bob Smart, CSP

Bob Smart, CSP was a majority owner of Yard Smart, Inc. in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, guiding that company successfully for 22 years. After the sale of his old company his newest venture takes the form of two new companies, Smart Scapes Landscaping, Inc. a landscape management company, and Mr. Yard, Inc. a landscape supply business. While active with SIMA, Bob has received the following awards: SIMA Excellence in Business (2004), SIMA Top Recruiter (2004 & 2005) and SIMA Volunteer of the Year (2005). He serves on the Symposium Advisory Committee and is a speaker for the Build A Bid & Beyond The Bid programs.

Mike Mason, CSP
Immediate Past Chair

Mike is the Vice President of The Lawn Pro in Louisville, Kentucky. Mike serves on the Symposium Committee and helped developed and is a speaker for SIMA's popular Build A Bid program. In 2009 he served on the Contracts Review Task Force and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award. He has a degree in Finance from the University of Louisville.

Jim Hornung, Jr., CSP

Jim Hornung Jr. is the president of Elbers Landscape Service Inc., a landscaping, snow and ice management services company serving commercial and residential customers throughout Western New York since 1919. Jim is also vice president of Great Lakes Athletic Fields, an athletic field service, construction, maintenance and consultation company he started with his father in 2003. A graduate of Canisius College and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Management Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Jim was named Volunteer of the Year by SIMA in 2008.  He also belongs to the New York State Nursery & Landscape Association; the Western New York State Nursery & Landscape Association; the New York State Turfgrass Association (where he serves on the board); Sports Turf Managers Association; Planet (Professional Landcare Network); Main-Amherst Business and Resident Association (where he serves as board treasurer); the Cherry Hill Club and The Buffalo Club. Jim is also a board member for Hasek’s Heroes youth hockey organization.

Daniel Gilliland, CSP

Daniel Gilliland, CSP works for Signature Landscape, a well known landscape company in the Kansas City area. He is a Past President of SIMA, the 2008 recipient of the SIMA Volunteer of the Year award, and founder of Crewtracker Software.

Justin Gamester, CSP

Justin Gamester, CSP is the Director of Business Development for Piscataqua Landscaping Co., a landscaping and snow & ice management company based in Eliot, ME. He received the SIMA Certified Snow Professional (CSP), a professional designation earned by otaining a minimum number of years in the industry and passing a comprehensive exam, in 2004. Piscataqua Landscaping Co. has been a SIMA member since 1999. With SIMA, he has served as Chair of the Membership Committee, been a member of the Education Committee, and serves as a SIMA Buddy & mentor. He has been a speaker at several SIMA educational programs, including the Snow & Ice Symposium. Justin earned his B.S. in business administration from the University of New Hampshire.

Deb Mattson, CSP

Deb Matson is a Certified Snow Professional and highly experienced risk manager in snow and ice. She has an educational background in business management, with a certificate in insurance management. She was Director of Operations for a large disaster recovery contractor for 5 years, working in claims processing and dealing specifically with insurance claims.

Deb currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Alan Steiman's Landscape, Inc. based in Northborough, MA.

Maggie Downer, CSP

Maggie Downer, CSP, owns and operates Northwest Snow Removal, Inc., based in the Chicagoland Area.  She was recently featured in Snow Business Magazine’s January issue after winning GoPlow.com’s Greatest Story Never Told Video Contest, in which the company recalled their experience starting their own snow removal company, which has now grown to service over 200 commercial properties in Northern Illinois.   Maggie has been selling snow for over 10 years and enjoys writing, running, spending time with her 2 year old son, and sharing her knowledge with fellow SIMA members.  

Doug Knott, CSP

Doug Knott, CSP, is the owner of Knott's Land Care, LLC in Amherst, NH. He is a past Chair of SIMA's membership committee and a member of the certification committee. Doug was awarded SIMA's Volunteer of the Year Award in 2011. He has a B.A. from Magdalen College and MBA from the University of New Haven.

Brian Churchill, CSP

Brian Churchill, CSP, is the Vice President of The GroundsKeeper Inc., in Ashland, MA. Brian has an Associates Degree in Landscape Contracting, is a member of the SIMA Certification Committee, and holds memberships in the Associated Landscape Contractors of Massachusetts, PLANET, and the Community Association Institute.

Rick Huffman, CSP

Rick Huffman, CSP, is the Director of Landscape Management at The Pattie Group, Inc. in Novelty, OH and is currently serving as Chair of SIMA's Education Advisory Board. Rick attended Ohio State University for sports turf management and earned his Certified Snow Professional designation in 2005. Rick is an active outdoorsman and dedicated community volunteer.

Mark Adamson
Director - Associate Representative

Mark Adamson has been involved in the Green Industry for 30 years. As a manager for John Deere Company responsible for dealer sales networks and distribution for over two decades, he has developed effective skills in communications and relationship selling. Mark obtained his MBA from Duke University with an emphasis in marketing. For the last 8 years Mark has been the Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Douglas Dynamics, leaders in snow and ice control and manufacturers of Blizzard, Fisher, and Western brands.

Paul Vanderzon
Director - Associate Representative

Paul Vanderzon is a sales representative for Metal Pless Inc and co-owner of Deneigement Vanderzon, he has 34 years of experience in the snow industry.  He is an active member of SIMA sitting on the Outreach Advisory Committee, is a SIMA Advisor, and Ambassador. In 2010 Paul Vanderzon was honoured with the SIMA Volunteer of the year award and through his other company, Entreneige, organized the largest snow only tradeshow in Canada.
